Getting Above the Fog on the North Coast

The rains finally stopped about a week ago and we had a couple of sunny days, but the fog has been dominant for the past week or so. The kind of fog where you can just see glimpses of blue sky to the East over the mountains--teasing you.

Today I just had to see some sun, so we all climbed into the truck and took a ride up to Kneeland. It was beautiful. It felt so good to get above the fog, feel the sun's rays and see the mountains and valleys. We saw lots of deer, horses and cows soaking up the sun.

It doesn't look like there is much snow left on Horse Mountain or Snow Camp, but I am sure we will get a few more storms before the winter season is over.

I saw lots of activity at Freshwater Stables as we drove by. People hustling about cleaning pastures and tending to horses. Looked like everyone was anxious to get rid of the winter muck and get started with spring fun.

I hope everyone else has had a chance to get out and see some sun.

Thank you for your website...

Hello, My name is Christina and I'm a horse lover living in Eureka. I want to thank you for your website because I to moved here 4 yrs ago, from FL, & I also agree that horse related topics via the web refering to Northern California riding, pos up none. Such a shame. I very sadly don't own and have never owned horses, yet have always had horses in my life, and I love them sometimes more than I think I love my husband LOL!! I haven't had horses in my life these past few yrs, and I'm looking for ways to get back around the barn. I've found a couple stables in the area online worth checking out-but no websites, just white pgs. I'd really like to find out who needs barn dutties done ie: mucking, feeding, grooming, saddle care, turn out & other barn dutties. I know show season is around the corner, and I know horse owners are thinking..."There are just not enough hrs in a day." If You know anyone or have any advice let me know...also, if you are a horse owner and you love myspace....then check out yourbarn.com... it's for horse lovers by horse lovers, a horsey community. You can find me under DivineEquine28. About Freshwater Valley Stables.....my hubby found that place and took me by there just days ago...they do look busy..I fell in love with a dark brown bald face...I hope I get to meet him! Wish me luck!!
